What pet owners say
I am preparing to take my mother's cat back to Denmark to live with me. This first round of treatment was efficient, professional and friendly. The recommendation to help with Cleo's relocation was a very kind offer. Thank you all😺

Jack was referred here due to his hyperthyroidism.I spoke to Martin by phone before Jack’s arrival and everything was explained. All the reception staff I spoke to were caring, informative and helpful. On arrival we met Martin who checked Jack over and gave us care information for when Jack came home. We had a phone call every other day as to how Jack was doing but I was able to phone anytime I wanted. I took his favourite food, a towel and t shirt that had my smell on it and his toys to be kept with him during his stay. I was worried that he would be upset being on his own for so long - he was in 10 days, but he has returned home his same happy, gentle self. The day we collected him, Martin had done a blood test that showed his thyroid levels had already dropped. I had previously contacted a lady who had used Chipping Norton Vets for hyperthyroidism and was very grateful for their service. I am so glad I took Jack here and that he had treatment to keep him healthier.

Travelled here from Wales for a CT scan for my rabbit. Easy to travel to. Wasn't waiting for more than 5 minutes when we arrived, seen to super quickly. Highly skilled exotic vets who provided wonderful care to my boy during his 45 minute appointment. Receptionist was extremely helpful when dealing with insurance claim. Overall, a clean hospital, all staff are friendly & welcoming. Plenty of parking. Toilet available also. Reasonable prices much cheaper than our local vet hospital.

I took my Syrian hamster to a regular vet but left dissatisfied as the vet diagnosed my hamster with Pyometra, which I didn’t feel was right (given I had a previous hamster with Pyometra and the symptoms were different), and gave up on any possible treatment because it's "just a hamster" and she is almost 2 years old. I knew she wasn't a great candidate for uterus removal surgery, given her age, so I did some research and found a couple of treatment alternatives for Pyometra on the Hamster Central forum: Alizin and Galastop. Also found a scientific article where a vet cured a hamster with Pyometra by using Alizin. The vets at Chipping Norton listened to my case and got me an appointment on the next day. At the appointment, the vet was much more knowledgeable than any other vet I've gone to, and I've been keeping hamsters for 5 years now and visiting different vets. He knew about the alternatives I spoke about, read the article I mentioned and talked to me about removing the uterus if Poppy had indeed Pyometra. I filled in a form for this which was very comprehensive. He suggested doing an ultrasound scan first to confirm, as the regular vets notes were lacking. He was able to do the scan with her conscious which was so amazing, every other vet always told me that wasn't possible. He then was able to tell me that Poppy has a tumor in her liver, she doesn't have Pyometra. He spoke about how chemotherapy wasn't feasible given the size of the animal's veins and the risk of giving chemo as tables, and that they would need a biopsy first which also carries risk. We discussed a lot of things, I never felt rushed or pressured to end the consultation. I cried due to the news of knowing it is fatal and was treated with kindness and respect. We discussed a plan to keep her comfortable and how to tell when it is time to put her to sleep. I paid £75 for the consultation and £154.79 for the ultrasound scan. The consultation cost is higher than other vets, given that it's a specialist vet, but overall I'd have saved money if I had gone to Chipping Norton to begin with, as they were able to figure out for sure what my hamster has and do so without risk. I feel sad but calmer knowing my baby got the best care and that I've done all I could. If your hamster has an internal problem, I recommend coming here directly. They are much more knowledgeable than the regular vet, they're actually exotics vets, contrary to Avonvale Warwick vet hospital and Vets 4 Pets Stratford, and they may be able to do a scan risk free as was the case for my hamster. Very pleased with this vet, will be my priority for my hamsters.
