Overview
Rabbit mites are tiny parasites that can live in your rabbit’s fur or ears, causing itching, flaky skin, and hair loss. You might notice them scratching more than usual or see bald patches and dandruff. In more serious cases, mites can lead to skin infections, a drop in appetite, or changes in how your rabbit behaves.
The good news is rabbit mites are treatable, but they can spread quickly and come back if your rabbit’s home isn’t properly cleaned. Some mites, like Cheyletiella and Sarcoptes, can even cause mild skin irritation in humans, though they won’t stick around for long.
